Rob Gernon serves as the Structural Division Manager in the firm’s Greenville, South Carolina office. He has more than 18 years of experience in structural design and has been involved in the structural design of a wide variety of buildings and materials.
As a Registered Professional Engineer, his experience includes high-rise, commercial, healthcare, historic mills, K-12, higher education, industrial, multi-family, and logistics projects. Rob has performed numerous structural assessments of existing structures including historic mills, post-tornado damage assessment from the Joplin, MO EF-5 tornado (2011), and post-hurricane damage assessments from Hurricane Wilma (2005), and Hurricane Michael (2018).
With a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Clemson University, Rob conducted graduate research on the testing requirements for hurricane shutters and authored the thesis titled "Evaluation of ASTM E 1996-03 as a Performance Standard for Hurricane Shutters."
