Bret Underwood

Bret Underwood is a Principal, a Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of BPA responsible for managing firm operations. He possesses a strong ability to lead and organize the efforts across all of our offices and has extensive experience in project management and client relations. With over 20 years at BPA, his experience includes higher education, hospitality, K-12, mid-rise, industrial and mixed-use construction projects of various construction materials including wood, structural steel, reinforced masonry, and mild reinforced and post tensioned concrete.

A Registered Professional Engineer, Bret has design experience across the country for a variety of conditions including hurricane wind loads, high seismic loads, flood loads, and poor soils requiring deep foundations and mat foundations.

A graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Bret is an active member of the Hampton Roads Association of Commercial Real Estate and the Virginia Structural Engineers Association.
