550,000-square-foot convention center for the city of Charlotte. The ballroom seats 4,900, with the general area seating up to 8,500. This structure has 90’-0” x 90’-0” bays which required long-span trusses that were limited in depth to under 10’-0”. With the vast open space requirements, the lateral force-resisting system was very unique and challenging.
