Britt, Peters, and Associates was hired by SCDOT to provide professional Condition Assessment of the 252,000 square foot precast parking facility in Columbia, SC. The information gathered during the assessment was then used to develop the repair budget for Primary Repairs to the deck. Upon approval of the recommended scope and budget, the SCDOT contracted with Britt, Peters to provide bid documents and construction administration for the project. As the owner’s representative, Britt, Peters, and Associates oversaw all repair procedures including product submittals, repair implementation, and quality control. Since all spaces within the deck are assigned and in use during business hours, and space is rented to the neighboring coliseum for events after hours, a significant challenge faced during the project was allowing the deck to remain in use while repairs were being made.Coordination between Britt, Peters, and Associates, SCDOT, and the contractor was required to keep the project on schedule and on budget.
