Move Positions Regional Engineering Firm for Continued Rapid Growth
Greenville, SC: Upstate-headquartered structural and civil engineering firm Britt Peters & Associates, Inc. has added an Orlando, Florida office to the rapidly growing firm’s geographic footprint. The new office, to be led by vice president and division manager John Bailes, P.E., comes on the heels of 2006 expansion into Florence, South Carolina, and gives the firm four offices across South Carolina and Florida. It is expected to further accelerate the Upstate-based organization’s status as one of the fastest-growing regional engineering firms in the Southeast.
“The business opportunities and wealth of engineering talent available in the Central Florida market, and the chance to add John Bailes in particular, was a clinching factor in our decision to expand,” noted Britt Peters principal and president Mark Peters. “The expansion demonstrates our commitment to growth, and John’s addition deepens our team of professionals across the organization. Orlando is a significant step in our strategic plan to expand our overall business, and particularly our structural engineering services, on a national level.”
For Bailes, the opportunity to join Britt Peters and provide added capabilities to help penetrate the central Florida market was highly attractive.
“In joining Britt Peters, I can help position our organization to tap into the rapid growth here in Florida and the Southeast region,” stated Bailes, who will run the firm’s Orlando office. “Many of the decisions for assigning architectural and engineering work throughout the state and across this region are now emanating from Orlando and other Florida markets. This is an important step in making sure Britt Peters participates in that long-term growth and success.”
Bailes has twenty years of engineering experience with top firms in the Orlando area, most recently as a senior project manager for Walter P. Moore & Associates. His expertise includes professional engineering services for hospitals, office, retail, educational, municipal, multi-family residential, and industrial structures. He has worked with a variety of materials including reinforced concrete, post-tensioned and pre-cast concrete, masonry, structural steel and timber. He is a registered professional engineer in both Florida and Louisiana.
A member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Concrete Institute and the American Institute of Steel Construction, Bailes earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University, where he also attended graduate school.
An added benefit of expanding the firm’s footprint into Orlando is greater access to engineering talent, noted Peters. “The relationships that John Bailes has established in his 20 years in the Central Florida area, the resources and expertise of the networks he brings with him, and the attractiveness of the Britt Peters organization to draw top clients and top talent will help to open up new markets and new opportunities for our organization,” said Peters.
